 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  12TH ANNUAL SUMMIT: ALARHOSPS CALLS FOR MORAL REBIRTH


The Association of Lagos State Retired Heads of Service and Permanent Secretaries (ALARHOSPS) has called on all Nigerians, irrespective of status, religion and ethnicity, to join forces towards the ethical rebirth of our great nation, Nigeria.


This call was contained in a statement issued by the Association's President, Otunba Nurudeen Ojora-Adejiyan, while announcing the date for their 12th annual summit scheduled to take place from 12th to 13th August, 2025.


Otunba Ojora-Adejiyan said, with the recent happenings in the country, there is no gainsaying the fact that there is a need for a rebirth towards the promotion and practicality of the highest ethical and moral standards in our individual and collective lives; rendering services that are neither selfish nor self-centred, devoid of self-interest towards one another.


He said that we should accept our individual and collective guilt in terms of the present moral degradation and permissiveness, by working jointly in creating the necessary positive change to improve our well-being.


The President appreciated the Lagos State Government for the strategic creation of the Lagos State Food Infrastructure Company (LAFINSCO) aimed at enhancing food security and agricultural productivity in the State.


Recall that the theme of last year's  ALARHOSPS summit was: “Agenda For Sustainable  Development and Food Security”, which contributed in no small measure to the debate and discussions on food security across the country last year.


The concept of the ALARHOSPS summit is to serve as a veritable platform to discuss topical issues on good governance and improved service delivery through which relevant and useful contributions are made towards state and national development.
