 PRESIDENT TINUBU CONGRATULATES MINISTER OF STATE FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS AMBASSADOR ENIKANOLAIYE ON HIS BIRTHDAY   President Bola Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, on his birthday.    A statement by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President, Information and Strategy, indicates that the President describes Ambassador Enikanolaiye as a distinguished diplomat, accomplished administrator and dedicated public servant whose career reflects professionalism, patriotism and a deep commitment to Nigeria.   Ambassador Enikanolaiye served in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from August 1982 to August 2017, rising through the ranks to become Permanent Secretary. A 9-YEAR-OLD ILLINOIS GIRL LOST HER LIFE AFTER BEING SWEPT UNDER A LOG JAM IN THE KASKASKIA RIVER.(PHOTO).

 A 9-year-old Illinois girl lost her life after being swept under a log jam in the Kaskaskia River.


This tragic incident unfolded at 2:30 p.m. on August 2nd when authorities in Fayette County received a call regarding a 9-year-old girl drowning in the Kaskaskia River near Wren Bridge. 


As first responders arrived on scene they were informed that the young girl had been swept under a large log jam in the river. 


Multiple agencies were dispatched to assist with the rescue and later recovery of the young girl but sadly by 3 a.m. Sunday morning, recovery efforts were called off. 


The search resumed the next morning at 8 a.m. and approximately 3 hours into their mission, recovery crews were able to locate and extricate the young girl from beneath the log jam. 


This is a truly heartbreaking outcome. Our thoughts are with the family of this young girl and also with the crews who tirelessly searched to bring a conclusion to this tragic situation.
