ABUJA-KADUNA ROAD SAFE AGAIN, SAYS OMOKRI. (PHOTO).

Abuja-Kaduna road safe again, says Omokri

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has declared the Abuja-Kaduna highway safe for travel after successfully completing a round trip on the road without any security escort.

Omokri was accompanied by Nollywood actor Wale Ojo, who hinted at plans to shoot scenes from his upcoming movie along the route.

The road tour, which took place on Thursday, was aimed at reassuring Nigerians and the international community about the improved security situation on the once-dangerous corridor. The Abuja-Kaduna expressway has long been a flashpoint for kidnappings and violent attacks, leading to public anxiety and the suspension of train services along the route.

Speaking to journalists and residents in Kaduna, Omokri said: “You guys saw I didn’t come here with security, and I’m here, safe and sound. I left California and came to Nigeria to travel this road just to prove it is now secure.”

He credited the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for fortifying the route, noting that military outposts are stationed at nearly every kilometre to ensure safety.

“This is not just blind faith. The Tinubu administration has invested in real, visible security infrastructure,” Omokri stated.

In addition to journalists,  Nollywood star Wale Ojo joined the road trip with a 100-person film crew. He confirmed that his next film, ‘Lagos Heist’, would now include scenes shot along the Abuja-Kaduna highway.

“I was going to shoot this film in Las Vegas. But Reno called me and said, ‘Come do it here.’ I’ve never filmed in the North before. I want to showcase unity and prove that this road is not just safe—it’s cinematic,” Ojo said.

He praised the quality of ongoing road reconstruction and acknowledged visible improvements in both security and infrastructure.

Omokri further added that the highway is being rebuilt to last over 50 years, starting from the Zuba end. However, he admitted that some sections of the road remain under construction, with contractors yet to reach them.

“I won’t lie and say everything is perfect. But work is ongoing, and what’s been done so far is of top quality,” he said.
