 Brazil’s former president Bolsonaro hospitalized in intensive care with pneumonia, officials say   Brazil’s former President Jair Bolsonaro is being treated in an intensive care unit in Brasilia after developing pneumonia, hospital officials said Friday. Doctors described the 70-year-old’s condition as serious, warning that pneumonia in older patients can progress to septicemia if bacteria enter the bloodstream. Bolsonaro was transferred from prison after experiencing high fever, chills, vomiting, and low oxygen levels, his eldest son, Flávio Bolsonaro, said on X. The hospital confirmed bronchopneumonia, likely caused by aspiration, and said he is receiving intravenous antibiotics and non-invasive support. Bolsonaro is serving a 27-year sentence for attempting a coup following his 2022 election defeat, and hospital staff noted it is unlikely he will return to prison in the coming days due to the need for ongoing IV treatment.  ANAMBRA POLICE INTERVENES IN POLITICAL SQUABBLE AT NRI: RESTORES CALM AND COMMENCES INVESTIGATION


_As CP directs the immediate transfer of the Case to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Awka to uphold the mutual pact already resolved by the parties and if otherwise, for a more discreet investigation_


The Anambra State Police Command today 1st August 2025 at about 1.30pm, swiftly intervened and restored calm following a report of a political squabble at Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area, during a political campaign rally. 


The incident reportedly arose after supporters of a Political party allegedly pulled down three campaign billboards belonging to another party leading to a brief disturbance in the area. 


Given the above, both parties involved in the matter were immediately invited for a peace meeting aimed at de-escalating the tension.

However, a mutual agreement was reached to replace the removed billboards without delay, despite claims that the removal was due to non-payment of signage fees. 


Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police *CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD* has urged political actors and their supporters to conduct their activities peacefully and within the ambit of the law. He further directed that the Case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Political Desk to uphold the already resolved pact by the parties or otherwise, for a more discreet investigation.
