 Guinea-Bissau stops vaccine study funded by Trump administration Guinea-Bissau's foreign minister has said his government has stopped a study funded by the Trump administration aiming to evaluate side effects of the life-saving hepatitis B vaccine, including any links to autism. The West African country, one of the region's poorest, has high rates of hepatitis B, and the prospective study had drawn an outcry from scientists and international health bodies because only half the newborns in the trial would get the vaccine at birth. World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus said it was not ethical. Guinea-Bissau last month suspended the trial pending an ethical review. Critics had said it was being used to test theories linking vaccines to autism, long promoted by U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr but contradicted by scientific evidence.  ANAMBRA POLICE RECEIVES REPORTS OF PROTEST AGAINST SECURITY OPERATIVES, ASSURES STAKEHOLDER ENGAGEMENT FOR NECESSARY ACTION


The Anambra State Police Command today 22nd August 2025 received reports of a protest against security operatives in the State.


The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations DCP Ibrahim Ezekiel receiving the report on behalf of the Command assures members of the public, especially Ndi Anambra, that the matter is receiving the necessary attention. He notes that in line with its mandate to maintain peace and security, the Command will engage relevant State security stakeholders and partners to ensure that appropriate actions are taken to address the concerns raised, in accordance with the law and established procedures.


The Command further reiterates that the establishment of security outfits operating within Anambra State was borne out of the collective will and consensus of Ndi Anambra, with the sole aim of strengthening community safety, enhancing rapid response, and sustaining peace and security across the State.


The Police Command remains committed to protecting lives and property, promoting lawful engagement, and working closely with all stakeholders to sustain peace and security in Anambra State.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
