 A popular content creator has died from surgery complication     Esther Thomas, popularly known as Sunshine, was a Nigerian content creator, skit maker, and brand influencer. She died on Friday, 9 January 2026, after complications from fibroid surgery. She had been complaining of serious stomach pain from late December 2025.     Sunshine was first admitted at Orchid General Hospital in Lagos, where her friends said she was only given pain relief drugs because doctors were on strike. Her condition did not improve, so she was moved to another hospital on 2 January 2026, where tests showed she had a large fibroid and surgery was carried out. She later developed complications and died. After her death, friends blamed Orchid General Hospital online, saying she was neglected and did not receive proper treatment early enough.  Benue Assembly Confirms Timothy Ornguga as Commissioner, Reversing Previous Rejection


The Benue State House of Assembly on Tuesday confirmed Timothy Ornguga, a law lecturer at Benue State University, as a commissioner, overturning his rejection the previous week under former Speaker Aondona Dajoh, who resigned days later. The confirmation followed a letter from Governor Hyacinth Alia, read by the new Speaker, Alfred Berger, during a plenary session.


Berger also screened four other nominees alongside Ornguga. He noted that Governor Alia believes none of the nominees had been convicted of any crimes, despite petitions against their nominations, urging the Assembly to clear them. In a departure from standard procedure, the lawmakers, who had previously rejected the nominees, remained silent as Berger confirmed all five without the usual voice votes.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”. He said: “Our orders for four attack helicopters from the United States of America will take some time to arrive.
