Baltimore-based comedian Reginald “Reggie” Carroll, 52, died after a shooting in Southaven, Mississippi, Southaven Police confirmed. Officers responded Wednesday to the Burton Lane area, where they found Carroll with gunshot wounds. He was transported to Regional One Health in Memphis, but died despite life-saving efforts.
Authorities said one man is in custody and has been charged with Carroll’s murder. Early reports indicate the shooting was an isolated incident, though the investigation is ongoing. Baltimore comedy club Mobtown Comedy honored Carroll on social media, calling him “one of the OGs who supported us early on” and expressing sorrow over the loss. Carroll toured nationally, performing alongside Mo’Nique, who described him as her “brother in comedy.” His credits include a 2000 appearance on Showtime at the Apollo, an episode of The Parkers, and the 2023 standup special Knockout Kings of Comedy.
