 UNACCEPTABLE – GOV. ALIA BLASTS MBALOM KILLINGS, ASSURES JUSTICE FOR VICTIMS  Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has condemned the latest attack on Mbalom community in Gwer East Local Government Area, describing it as barbaric and unacceptable, while assuring residents of intensified efforts to protect lives and property. In a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo Kula, the governor reacted to reports of an assault by suspected armed herdsmen on the community, an incident that adds to recurring security concerns in parts of the state. Alia said the attack represents a direct threat to the peace and security of Benue, noting a disturbing pattern of what he described as calculated and selective assaults. He expressed sympathy to affected families and reiterated his administration’s resolve to confront criminal elements.  Enugwu Ukwu Monarch Gives Notice Of Community's New Yam Festival

The Traditional Ruler of Enugwu Ukwu, Igwe Ralph Ekpe has announced the 22nd of August 2025 as the fixed date for the celebration of the community's new yam festival also known as the "Onwa Asato'


In a press statement in his Enugwu Ukwu palace,Igwe Ekpe spoke of the imperatives of the celebration in celebrating the new yam and the performance of other rituals associated with the celebration.


According to the royal father,after the royal new yam celebration,the Enugwu Ukwu community will eat their own yam the following day 23rd of August followed by the Thanksgiving Mass celebration and Church Service on the 24th of August to give God the ultimate glory for the gift of the new yam.


He made reference to the"Ikpo ji' ceremony celebrated on the 19th day of July 2025 which featured the evacuation of all old tubers of Yam in the Nkwo market and their replacement with the new tubers of Yam.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity. Speaking at a meeting with a delegation of the Christian Association of Nigeria, led by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, at his Lagos residence, on Friday, Dec. 26, Tinubu revealed that the Federal Government had ordered four attack helicopters from the U.S, adding that they will arrive in the country “soon”.
