Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  Five people lost their lives on the N1 Ysterberg mountain 


A devastating head-on collision between two sedans on the N1 Ysterberg mountain in Polokwane Municipality, Capricorn District, has claimed the lives of five people in the early hours of Saturday, August 30, 2025. The tragic incident has left four victims burned beyond recognition, while two others, including a driver and a passenger, survived the crash with injuries and were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.


According to preliminary reports, one of the vehicles attempted to overtake, and recklessness can not be ruled out as a possible cause of the accident. The South African Police Service (SAPS) is currently investigating the matter.


The Department of Transport has also expressed deep concern over the resurgence of accidents in the area, particularly during early and late hours when visibility is poor.
