Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. FUGITIVE WANTED FOR WIFE’S MURDER IN CALIFORNIA SURRENDERS IN PERU . (PHOTO).

Fugitive wanted for wife’s murder in California surrenders in Peru

A Southern California man accused of killing his wife and fleeing to Peru with their children surrendered to authorities Wednesday in Lima, Peru. Jossimar Cabrera Cornejo, 36, turned himself in at Interpol headquarters and is now being held in preventive detention.

Cabrera is wanted on one count of murder in the Aug. 10 death of his 33-year-old wife, Sheylla Cabrera, with authorities alleging he used a knife as a deadly weapon. Peruvian police released a video showing him handcuffed, wearing a shirt bearing the Interpol insignia. Extradition to the United States is expected to take several months, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

Their three children were located in Peru on Aug. 16 and placed into protective custody. District Attorney Nathan Hochman described the allegations as “horrific” and emphasized that domestic violence devastates communities and families. Authorities say Cabrera killed his wife at their Lancaster home, north of Los Angeles, before fleeing with the children. Sheylla Cabrera had been reported missing on Aug. 12, and her body was discovered the following day in Angeles National Forest. Security footage shows Cabrera dragging what officials described as “a large object in a large piece of material” from their apartment complex—the same type of material in which Sheylla Cabrera’s body was later found.
