Ohio mom insists 'I love my children' as she's sentenced over death of 2-year-old daughter allegedly abused by her fiancé More than a year after the death of her 2‑year‑old daughter, Lilith, Tien Hawkins was sentenced in Ohio for charges tied to the child’s abuse. The 26‑year‑old mother pleaded guilty to child endangerment and child abuse, leading prosecutors to drop more serious counts such as murder and manslaughter.  Judge Brett Spencer accepted a plea deal that gave her five years in prison, with credit for time already served, followed by up to three years of supervision.  During the emotional hearing, Hawkins broke down in tears as her lawyer argued she had been unaware of the abuse allegedly carried out by her fiancé, Brian Moser, while she worked to support the family. Investigators revealed that Hawkins had previously warned Moser about hitting Lilith too hard, particularly during potty training, when he punished the toddler for accidents. PERSONNEL WELFARE: IGP COMMISSIONS HOUSING PROJECTS IN KANO STATE

Reaffirms Commitment to Institutional Reform and Personnel Welfare

In another significant step towards enhancing the welfare of police officers and reinforcing operational capacity, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, today, August 6th 2025, officiated the commissioning of newly constructed police barracks and accommodation facilities at Bompai and Zaria Road, in Kano State. This initiative is part of his administration’s pivotal step towards improving the living conditions for police personnel and boosting working morale among officers of the Nigeria Police Force.

The commissioned facilities include over 300 modern residential units, a 48-office administrative complex, a standard armoury, a transport workshop, POWA shops, worship centres, paved internal roads, and integrated support infrastructure, all delivered in line with the Force’s vision for a more professional, motivated, and mission-ready police force.

Addressing officers, stakeholders, and guests at the commissioning, the IGP described the project as not merely the unveiling of infrastructure, but the reaffirmation of a philosophy that places human dignity at the centre of national security. He emphasized that no officer should fight for a nation by day and sleep in indignity by night, noting that the project reflects his administration’s deliberate focus on aligning welfare with performance and treating infrastructure as a catalyst for professional excellence.

The IGP acknowledged the instrumental role of private sector partners and stakeholders who aligned with the vision and delivered the project on time and to standard. He also expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the consistent support of the Nigeria Police, which has enabled meaningful reform and tangible progress under the Renewed Hope Agenda. He further noted that the project is part of a broader nationwide blueprint for police transformation, assuring that similar efforts are underway across various states.

The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to personnel welfare and institutional renewal, recognizing that a motivated workforce is the cornerstone of sustainable public safety and national development.
