Sudan war: Hundreds of civilians displaced in latest South Kordofan's violence A total of 570 civilians were displaced from Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, over a three-day period due to deteriorating security conditions, the UN International Organization for Migration (IOM) said. The organisation said in a statement that its tracking teams recorded the displacement of 570 people from Kadugli between 8 and 10 January, as insecurity escalated in the city. The displaced families headed toward areas in White Nile State, southern Sudan.  LASG SEALS ASHLEY MALL, BETTER MART FOR CONTRAVENTION

The Lagos State Government, today, sealed Better Mart, Badore Road, Off Addo Road, Ajah and Ashley Mall in Ajah for breaking the State Transportation, Urban and Regional Planning Development Laws.

The joint enforcement exercise, carried out by the Governor’s Monitoring Team (GMT), the State Taskforce under the supervision of the Lagos State Building Control Agency (LASBCA), Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC) and the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), in a bid to ensure compliance with the State Regulations.

Commenting on the operation, the General Manager, Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), Mrs. Adelabu, revealed that the State Government, in a bid to ensure a coordinated, multi-agency approach to urban mobility, set up a Transport Advisory Board comprising relevant Ministries, Departments and Agencies.

In her words, “The joint enforcement exercise was carried out by the GMT, State Taskforce in company of the enforcement team from the MDAs of the Transport Advisory Board on the order of the Governor of Lagos State”.

According to the General Manager, the MDAs that supported the enforcement exercise, from the Transport Advisory Board, were from the Ministry of Transportation, Physical Planning and the Environment.

She reaffirmed the State Government's commitment to ensuring compliance with the relevant rules and regulations in the parking, building, and environmental management sectors, adding that the State will not hesitate to carry out enforcement when it is necessary.

The task force officers, before sealing up the premises, ensured that all the occupants of the buildings and their customers vacated the shopping centres, while some illegal attachments were demolished by LASBCA.

‎Recall that officials of the Lagos State Parking Authority (LASPA), who were on a routine compliance check at the shopping mall last week, were assaulted.

‎Mrs. Adelabu reiterated LASPA’s commitment to the actualisation of the State Parking Regulations, stressing that any individual or organisation attempting to obstruct the lawful activities of the State Government Officials will be made to face the full wrath of the relevant laws.
