 The credibility of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voters’ register has come under intense scrutiny ahead of the 2027 general elections, following revelations by INEC Chairman Professor Joash Amupitan that names of deceased persons remain on the register. Amupitan disclosed that names of voters who died as far back as 15 years ago are still listed, a situation critics say could undermine the integrity of the 2027 polls and lead to significant financial waste through the printing of excess ballot papers and other election logistics. The INEC chairman made the revelation while receiving the Director-General/Chief Executive Officer of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), Abisoye Coker-Odusote, and her management team during a courtesy visit in Abuja on Wednesday.  LOBI STARS FC UNVEILS NEW TECHNICAL ADVISER

Chairman of Lobi Stars Football Club, Makurdi and Permanent Secretary, Dr. Philip Nongo has unveiled the new Technical Adviser of the club.


The new technical adviser of the club is Coach Bala Abubakar.


Unveiling the new Technical Adviser of the club on Monday in Makurdi during a press briefing, the Chairman of the club, said the new Technical Adviser was competent even as he has the capacity to move the the club away from relegation.


The Permanent Secretary, who is also the Acting Commissioner for Sport’s and Creativity, told Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), that they were doing everything possible to address the challenges responsible for the relegation of the club.


He expressed confidence as the challenges were being addressed, the new Technical Adviser would have a smooth performance.


Dr. Nongo informed that they were also rebuilding and restructuring the club in such a way that the club would certainly regain its lost glory even as he told SWAN that they were learning from the past mistakes and they would definitely improve.


He lamented that they inherited a lot of challenges but assured that the challenges which ranged from poor allowances and salaries of officials and players, three months arrears of salaries as well as deliberate sabotage from those who were misinformed but insisted that nothing would make them to derail as they would remain focused in the management of the club.


Dr. Nongo expressed appreciation to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia for the strong support given to the club. He also mentioned that renovations at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi are nearing completion.


Additionally, Dr. Nongo disclosed that arrangements are being made for the club’s home matches in the upcoming season to be played at the Akume Atongo Stadium in Katsina Ala, Benue State, until work on the Aper Aku Stadium is finished.


Responding to sports writers, the new technical adviser, assured that the task before him was achievable even as he said that he was in a familiar terrain.
