LSWMO SEALS PROPERTY ON MOSHOOD ABIOLA WAY, IJORA, FOR ENVIRONMENTAL NUISANCE, POLLUTION

The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has continued to demonstrate its dedication to ensuring credible and Sustainable Wastewater Management in the State by once again responding to public outcry and pursuant of a safe and cleaner Lagos by clamping down on the property at No. 229 Moshood Abiola Way, Ijora, Lagos for deliberate discharge of raw sewage into public drains via pumping machine.

Speaking on the development, the General Manager of the Agency, Engr Adefemi Afolabi explained that the despicable act causes unpleasant environmental pollution while endangering the lives of citizens of the State. The environmental nuisance was discovered through complaints received from concerned residents of the State, who have been impacted negatively by the recurring offensive odour.

According to him, the untreated wastewater is usually pumped into the public drain through the use of a pumping machine. This pollutes the environment and exposes citizens to communicable diseases.

While emphasising that the State has zero tolerance for environmental pollution and degradation, he advised that residents should embrace proper wastewater management and hygiene practices to enhance public health and environmental sustainability.

The Agency, according to Engr. Afolabi, remains undeterred in its efforts to ensure a clean and healthy environment in the State, for the sake of the public health of the citizens of the State.

The General Manager maintained that every act of environmental nuisance and pollution portends grave dangers to public health and will be met with appropriate sanctions and prosecution.

He appealed to citizens of the State to continue to reach out to the agency whenever they uncover any act of environmental nuisance that can affect the health and well-being of citizens of the State.

Engr. Afolabi said the agency can be reached on its official lines 08022022397, 07025332163 or through any of the Social Media handles.
