 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  NCAA Summons Ibom Air Crew and Passenger Over In-Flight Incident


The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has summoned a passenger, Comfort Emmanson, and Ibom Air cabin crew member Juliana Edward for questioning following a reported incident aboard an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos on August 10, 2025. The incident, which has garnered significant attention, prompted the regulatory body to launch a formal investigation to ascertain the details and ensure compliance with aviation safety protocols.


According to a statement from the NCAA, the incident occurred during Ibom Air flight [flight number, if known, or "an Ibom Air flight"] en route from Uyo to Lagos. While the specifics of the altercation remain undisclosed, preliminary reports suggest a disagreement between Ms. Emmanson and Ms. Edward, which escalated during the flight. The NCAA has emphasized that the investigation aims to establish the facts, assess any breaches of aviation regulations, and ensure accountability.


“The NCAA is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and professionalism in Nigeria’s aviation sector,” said Captain Chris Najomo, Director-General of the NCAA. “We have invited both the passenger and the crew member involved to provide clarity on the incident and assist in our investigation.”


Ibom Air, in a brief statement, confirmed its cooperation with the NCAA and stated that it is conducting an internal review of the matter. “We are fully committed to supporting the NCAA’s investigation and ensuring that all protocols are followed,” the airline said. Efforts to reach representatives of Ms. Emmanson and Ms. Edward for comment were unsuccessful at the time of this report.


The incident has sparked discussions on social media, with some calling for stricter oversight of passenger-crew interactions, while others have raised concerns about the handling of disputes on domestic flights. The NCAA has assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway and that appropriate measures will be taken based on the findings.
