A tragic murder-suicide occurred in Madbury, New Hampshire, when a woman allegedly shot and killed her husband and two of her children before taking her own life, authorities said. The victims were identified as Emily Long, 34; Ryan Long, 48; and their children Parker, 8, and Ryan, 6.
Officials said a third child, a toddler, was found unharmed in the home. Investigators believe Emily Long fatally shot her family early Monday morning. Her husband died from multiple gunshot wounds, while the children each suffered a single gunshot. The deaths of Ryan Long and the two children have been ruled homicides.
The motive remains under investigation. Reports indicate that Ryan Long had been diagnosed with brain cancer, and Emily Long referenced his illness on her now-private TikTok account. Authorities noted that while there were ongoing concerns in the household, they cautioned against assuming a single cause or stressor led to the tragedy.
Ryan Long worked as a school psychologist at Oyster River Middle School, where the superintendent expressed deep sorrow over the loss of four members of the community. Emily Long was employed by the local restaurant chain Wing-itz, which offered condolences to the family.
