 Texas woman charged with medical child abuse for falsifying toddler’s health and pushing unnecessary feeding tube surgeries A Texas woman has been charged with medical child abuse after allegedly falsifying her toddler’s medical history to pressure doctors into performing unnecessary procedures, including feeding tube surgeries, in what authorities are calling a “sickening” case. Kaitlyn Rose Laura, 31, faces charges of injury to a child and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Officials said she deliberately misled medical staff about her 3-year-old son’s health to obtain a gastrostomy tube and later a gastrojejunostomy tube, despite no documented medical need. Investigators allege that hospital staff observed the boy eating normally while Laura claimed he refused all food. Covert surveillance confirmed the child was able to eat meals without difficulty, prompting authorities to stop tube feedings.  Niger Suspends Exports of Precious Stones and Meteorites


The aim of the ban, according to a decree signed by President Abdourahamane Tiani, is "to preserve national natural resources, promote their processing, and ensure the traceability of their exploitation."


While the duration of the suspension has not been specified, the decree also includes semi-precious stones, Sputnik reported.


However, exemptions may be granted "on a case-by-case basis, in the interest of the country."


At the end of July, Nigerien authorities opened an investigation into the sale of a Martian meteorite for $5 million at an auction in New York. The 24.5-kilogram meteorite was discovered in Niger's Agadez region in 2023.

 Tinubu announces arrival of 4 US attack helicopters President Bola Tinubu has stated that four attack helicopters will soon arrive in the country from the United States amid rising insecurity.
