 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  NLC TO BEGIN NATIONWIDE STRIKE ON AUGUST 22


The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has commenced seven days of mobilization towards starting a nationwide strike on August 22, 2025.


To prevent the scheduled industrial strike, the NLC said the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) must restore 40% of employees contributions diverted to other purposes within seven days.


The NLC President Joe Aliero also faulted the government's stake on the NLC National Headquarters in Abuja. He also demanded that the board of the Pension Commission (PENCOM) must be re-constituted within seven days.


The Congress also tasked the current administration to steadfastly tackle economic crises, runaway inflation, joblessness, hunger, insecurity, and the collapse of public services among others.
