 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms.  NPFL Unveils 2025/26 Season Schedule, Kicks Off August 22


The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has announced the schedule for the 2025/26 season, with the new campaign set to begin on Friday, August 22, 2025. Defending champions Remo Stars will face Rivers United in the opening match at Ikenne.


The league will take a mid-season break from December 30, 2025, to January 6, 2026, allowing teams and players to rest before the second half of the season. The mid-season transfer window will be open from January 1 to January 30, 2026, providing clubs an opportunity to bolster their squads.


The 2025/26 NPFL season is scheduled to conclude on Sunday, May 24, 2026, marking the end of what promises to be an exciting campaign.
