 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  POLICE NAB EX-CONVICT FOR SUSPECTED CULTISM, RECOVER GUN HIDDEN IN TOILET PIPE


Operatives of Ijede Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist/armed robber and recovered a locally made firearm.

On 18th August, 2025, the operatives received complaints that an individual was brandishing a locally made gun and threatening members of the public at Sabon Kasuwa area of Abule Eko. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the operatives traced the suspect, one Onamade Kayode ‘m,’ to an uncompleted building, where he was arrested.


Investigations revealed that the suspect, who was released from prison in 2022 for cultism related offences, is still an active member of a cult group. 

He admitted to having a firearm and led the operatives to a toilet pipe within the uncompleted building from where the firearm was recovered. The suspect is currently cooperating with ongoing investigations to apprehend other cult members and recover weapons in their possession after which he will be prosecuted accordingly.


The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives of Ijede Division for their professionalism and prompt response, which led to the arrest and recovery.

He urges members of the public to remain law-abiding, avoid involvement in cultism and armed robbery, and continue to provide the Police with useful information to rid communities of criminal elements.
