 LASG PRESENTS STAFF OF OFFICE TO NEW ONIȘẸ OF ISE KINGDOM The Lagos State Government has presented the Staff of Office and Instrument of Appointment to Prince Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu, as His Royal Majesty, Alaiyeluwa Oba Ibrahim Adebowale Saliu, the Onise of Ise Kingdom in Lekki Local Government Area. The presentation was performed on Friday, August 21, 2026, by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural Development, Dr. Nurudeen Yekinni Agbaje, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa, with the approval of the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu and the Lagos State Executive Council, following the demise of the late Oba Ganiu Adebowale Adegbesan, Onise of Ise Kingdom.  POLICE NAB EX-CONVICT FOR SUSPECTED CULTISM, RECOVER GUN HIDDEN IN TOILET PIPE


Operatives of Ijede Division of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested a suspected cultist/armed robber and recovered a locally made firearm.

On 18th August, 2025, the operatives received complaints that an individual was brandishing a locally made gun and threatening members of the public at Sabon Kasuwa area of Abule Eko. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the operatives traced the suspect, one Onamade Kayode ‘m,’ to an uncompleted building, where he was arrested.


Investigations revealed that the suspect, who was released from prison in 2022 for cultism related offences, is still an active member of a cult group. 

He admitted to having a firearm and led the operatives to a toilet pipe within the uncompleted building from where the firearm was recovered. The suspect is currently cooperating with ongoing investigations to apprehend other cult members and recover weapons in their possession after which he will be prosecuted accordingly.


The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Olohundare Jimoh, commended the operatives of Ijede Division for their professionalism and prompt response, which led to the arrest and recovery.

He urges members of the public to remain law-abiding, avoid involvement in cultism and armed robbery, and continue to provide the Police with useful information to rid communities of criminal elements.
