Russia and Ukraine conduct another prisoner swap, officials say
Russia and Ukraine exchanged 146 prisoners of war from each side on Sunday, with mediation by the United Arab Emirates, according to the Russian defence ministry and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy.
The Russian ministry said the released Russians were in Belarus, receiving psychological and medical care. Eight Russian citizens from the Kursk region were also returned to Moscow. Zelenskiy posted photos of the freed Ukrainians on Telegram, noting most had been held since Russia’s 2022 invasion, including a journalist captured shortly after the conflict began. He thanked the UAE for overseeing the exchange and said continued swaps are possible thanks to the growing number of captured Russian servicemen.
