 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  Alleged Criminal Syndicate Members Gunned Down in Mpumalanga


Police in Calcutta are investigating three counts of murder after three men, alleged to be part of a Pretoria-based criminal syndicate, were shot and killed in Mkhuhlu (Rozol) near Bushbuckridge.


The incident happened on Friday, 22 August 2025, around 11h00. The victims, including Wilfred Owami Dludlu, were travelling in a charcoal Mercedes-Benz with Gauteng registration plates when unknown suspects opened fire, riddling the vehicle with bullets.


Police and medical personnel rushed to the scene near Mkhuhlu Hospital, where two of the victims were certified dead on arrival. The third victim was taken to hospital but later succumbed to his injuries. Several spent cartridges were recovered at the scene.


No arrests have been made. Police have appealed to members of the public with any information to contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
