 Anambra HOS Visits Ministry of Women Affairs Again, Warns On Absenteeism, Insurbordination By Stella Anekwe The Anambra State Head of Service, Ngozi Anuli Iwouno Esq.,mni, on April 29, visited the Ministry of Women Affairs , 29 days after her first visit, warning workers of absenteeism and insurbordination. She frowned at the lack of respect and insubordination witnessed among the staff against the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, warning that if such is reported again, she would post out all the staff. She reminded the workers at the ministry of Women Affairs that the ministry is the gateway of the grassroots to the civil service hence, the workers should be puntual and service oriented always. She said that with the 216 lawyers in the Ministry of Justice that the civil service has enough lawyers for litigation against those flagrantly disobeying the civil service rules and code of service.  Mother and Three Children Drown During Cleansing Ritual in Mamelodi Quarry Dam


A family cleansing ritual turned into a tragedy on Sunday evening when a mother and her three adult children drowned in the Delfie Quarry Dam in Pienaarsport, Mamelodi, Gauteng.


According to police reports, a 51-year-old woman, her 36-year-old daughter, and two sons in their twenties entered the dam as part of a traditional cleansing ritual. Sadly, they never resurfaced.


The alarm was raised by a seven-year-old girl, the youngest member of the family, who did not take part in the ritual. She alerted others when the four failed to come out of the water.


The South African Police Service (SAPS) diving unit was immediately called to the scene. On arrival, divers recovered the bodies of the mother and daughter floating on the surface. However, due to the dam’s depth and poor visibility, the two sons could not be found on Sunday.


The recovery operation resumed on Monday, 04 August 2025, and divers managed to retrieve the remaining two bodies.


Boschkop police have opened an inquest docket and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragic drowning.
