 Alleged coup: Release our daddies, detained officers’ children protest at N’Assembly Scores of children and wives of military officers detained over an alleged coup plot on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest at the National Assembly, demanding a speedy trial and the release of the accused officials. The protesters gathered at the entrance of the National Assembly complex, moving in a slow procession while clutching placards with inscriptions such as “Don’t Kill Our Daddies,” “Detention Without Trial is Injustice,” and “Six Months of Torture: Enough Is Enough.”.  SEYI MAKINDE PROCEEDS ON LEAVE, HANDS OVER TO DEPUTY


Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is proceeding on his annual leave on Friday, August 29, 2025. The one month leave will expire on Monday, 29th September 2025.


Governor Makinde informed the Oyo State House of Assembly that he will hand over power to Deputy Governor Bayo Lawal who will serve as Acting Governor. 


“I hereby transmit that during the period indicated above, the Deputy Governor, Barrister Bayo Lawal, shall serve as Acting Governor," the letter stated in part. "I shall resume duty upon my return from vacation on Monday, 29th September 2025.”
