 Chawai Community Appeals To Gov. Uba Sani For Relief, Medical Support After Deadly Kauru Attack The people of Chawai Chiefdom in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State have appealed to Governor Uba Sani to provide urgent relief and medical assistance to victims of the deadly attack on Naridon village in Kamaru Ward. In an open letter addressed to the governor, the community commended his leadership, describing his administration as inclusive and fair. They said this had given residents confidence that every community in the state is valued. The community, however, expressed concern over what it described as the lack of government intervention following the attack on Naridon village, in which it said 30 people were killed. According to the letter, many survivors and families of the victims are still struggling with grief, trauma, displacement, and the challenges of caring for those injured in the attack.  Sri Lanka’s former president Wickremesinghe hospitalised following arrest, media reports

Sri Lanka’s former president, Ranil Wickremesinghe, was hospitalised on Saturday, local media reported, a day after his arrest over allegations of misusing public funds during his time in office.

The 76-year-old, who led the country through a severe economic crisis, was taken into custody on Friday. He was admitted to the emergency care unit at Colombo National Hospital the following day with complications related to dehydration, diabetes, and high blood pressure, hospital director Dr. Rukshan Bellana said. Wickremesinghe was later moved to the intensive care unit, where his condition was reported as stable.

Requests for comment from Wickremesinghe’s office and the hospital were not immediately answered. The former president, a six-time prime minister who lost the presidency last year, had been under investigation for a trip to Britain to attend a graduation lunch celebrating his wife’s honorary professorship, local media reported. An ally from his United National Party called the case politically motivated and maintained Wickremesinghe’s innocence.
