 IGP DECLARES OPEN 2025 NIGERIA POLICE PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICERS’ CONFERENCE …Tasks PPROs on strategic communication, combating misinformation The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, on Monday, December 8, 2025, declared open the 2025 Annual Conference of Police Public Relations Officers (PPROs) of the Nigeria Police Force, held at the Police Resource Centre, Abuja.  SUSPECT OF YELWATA ATTACK IN COURT


The Department of the state service DSS   has filed at the federal high court Abuja, six separate charges against terror suspects who carried out deadly attacks on the people of Yelwata village in Guma local government area of Benue state which left several people dead and others injured.


Although the 6 charges involved 9 suspects apprehended through intelligence gathering by DSS operatives, two of them are however charged to court on four counts charges in relation to the Yelwata massacre.


They are Haruna Adamu and Muhammad Abdullahi of Awe local government area of Nassarawa state, who were alleged among others still at large.


The offence is said to be contrary to and punishable under section 12 of terrorism prevention Act, 2022.


The DSS in the charge also accused the two defendants of concealing information on the planned act of terrorism and killings in Abinsi and Yelwata villages between June 13th and 14th. 


In the charge filed by the Director of public prosecution of the federation Muhammad Abubakar on behalf of the federal government the two defendants were also accused of engaging in a conduct in preparation to commit terrorism act with Musa Beniyon, Bako Malowa, Ibrahim Tunga, Asara Ahnadu, Legu Musa, Adamu Yale, Boddi Ayuba and Pyeure Damina and others still at large.


Two other suspects Terkende Ashuwa and Amos Alede of Guma local government area of Benue State were slammed  with a three count charge for allegedly carrying out reprisal attacks against the terror suspects, involved in Abinsi and Yelwata


In another charge a 32 year old woman Halima Haliru Umar of Faskari local government area of Kastina State was slammed with a 4 count charge of concealing information about one Alhaji Sani a suspected gun runner, bandit and kidnapper.


The DSS slammed another 6 count charge against one Silas Iduh Oloche of Agatu LGA Benue state for unlawful possession of 18 firearms( grenades) without license contrary to 3 and punishable under section 27 of the firearms act. 


There were others caught with firearms who have been charged to court by the federal government.

No date has been fixed for the trial of the suspects in the charges filed.
