Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  Two Horrific Murders Shock Nkuzana Village


Nkuzana village was left reeling on Saturday afternoon, 09 August 2025, after two horrific incidents of murder unfolded at Nkuna Kraal Mall at around 15h00.


According to reports, a female police sergeant was out with two adults and her six-year-old child when her estranged husband, from whom she had been separated for about seven months, approached her.


An argument is alleged to have erupted between the two, during which the husband drew a service firearm and shot the woman in the upper body. As he attempted to run to his vehicle to flee, members of the community who had witnessed the incident chased him down, assaulted him, and set him alight next to his vehicle. The vehicle was also burnt beyond recognition.


Police later confirmed that both the male and female deceased were sergeants, the man attached to the Thohoyandou K9 Unit, and the woman stationed at the Beit Bridge port of entry.


The police have opened murder cases and are calling on anyone with information that could assist in identifying the suspects involved in the assault and burning to contact Detective Sergeant Stanley Chauke on 072 554 3141.
