There is new information in the strangulation and domestic violence case against John "Adam" Tripp. Mr. Tripp is a former Anna, Illinois Police Officer; he lost his job after these charges.
Tripp and his wife had been separated for months on July 6th of this year.
According to official reports, Adam Tripp and his wife were parked on a very rural road near Anna, Illinois. It is described as "very isolated". It is a one lane gravel road off of 51.
An individual that lives nearby was also parked on that road as this was a good place to "get away and clear your head". Although very few people live in the area, the field near the road is considered very scenic with a lot of wildlife and clear skies at night.
The individual/eyewitness was parked with their headlights off. They parked a little bit away from Tripp's truck to give both parties some privacy.
On that Sunday night, the eyewitness heard a woman scream for help in a desperate voice.
Adam's wife went to retrieve her belongings from the truck after a verbal argument. Tripp allegedly hit the gas which caused the female to fall off the running board and land in a ditch. The female got back up and continued to walk towards the main road. Tripp then put his vehicle in reverse. He exited the vehicle and grabbed the victim by the arms and began to shove the victim against the vehicle. Tripp twisted the victim's left arm "as if attempting to place it in a handcuff". The female screamed and attempted to strike Tripp. Tripp shoved his hand/fingers in the victim's mouth to prevent her from screaming. The victim reportedly bit his fingers. Tripp then forced the victim in a backbend while she was still standing. Tripp kept one hand in the victim's mouth to prevent her from screaming. Tripp continued strangling the victim who was still in a forced backbend. Tripp bit the victim's upper trachea for approximately 20 seconds. He continued to strangle the victim while biting her trachea.
The eyewitness pulled up with their headlights on after hearing the victim screaming for help at the beginning of the assault. Tripp dropped the victim on the ground when the eyewitness intervened. The victim entered the eyewitness's vehicle in a disheveled state. Tripp reportedly told the driver he only grabbed the victim by the arms. The eyewitness reportedly told Tripp they saw the strangulation.
The eyewitness dropped the victim back off at her residence. The eyewitness called authorities after arriving home.
Tripp was waiting for the victim at the residence. He monitored the victim and ensured she did not call 911.

The next morning, officers made contact with the victim. The victim's door was broken after Tripp broke it to gain entry.

Tripp monitored the victim for several hours throughout the night and early morning hours.
Tripp was located at his mother's house on July 7th and arrested. Tripp did not turn himself in. I was made aware that it had been reported by another site that he turned himself in but I was informed that officials had to locate him.
When officers arrived, the victim had noticeable injuries that were well documented. The victim had severe bruising around her neck indicating that she had been strangled. The victim had severe human bite marks on her upper trachea. The victim's arms were bruised severely.
Mr. Tripp was in court this week. Adam Tripp did not have his charges read aloud to him in court. He has pleaded not guilty and is demanding a jury trial in Union County. There may be additional charges added. Tripp is charged with felony strangulation and two counts of domestic violence due to the serious injuries sustained in the assault.
Adam Tripp is out of jail and on an ankle monitor. In his recent appearance in court on the 19th via zoom, it was noted that he stated his dog damaged the charger to the ankle monitor. The defendant was not monitored in real time due to this alleged pet incident for 3 days. When officers went to his residence and knocked on his door, Tripp did not answer. The judge admonished and reminded Tripp that he must comply with law enforcement. The charger has been turned over to see if it was indeed damaged by an animal or tampered with by the defendant.
Important note- After we wrote about his official arrest, numerous women reached out with inappropriate texts from Mr. Tripp. One young lady reached out and expressed being stalked by Mr. Tripp. Authorities are aware of this particular incident.
