 A priest in Anambra State wedded a couple yesterday, despite disputes with the bride’s father In a video circulating online, the Reverend Father narrated that The father of the bride who is from Nteje had insisted that the wedding should not take place unless his daughter swøre never to associate with his mother whom he has a quarrel with. The conflict arose from past marriage issues between the father and her mother. Before the wedding, the father repeatedly met with the priest, warning that he had already taken the bride's mother to a deity and that the girl must follow him to the shrine to appease that deity before the marriage can go on. For peace to prevail, the priest advised the couple to comply with all the father’s requests so the wedding could proceed, the priest even donated some of the items that the brides father told her to bring to use in appeasing the deity.  UTSEV HONOURS SUPER FALCONS STAR FRANCISCA ORDEGA FOR WAFCON WIN

The Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation, Engr. Prof. Joseph Terlumun Utsev, on Friday congratulated Benue-born Super Falcons player, Miss Francisca Ordega, on Nigeria’s triumph at the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).


Ordega, who was received in the Minister’s office in Abuja alongside the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mr. Richard Pheelangwah, was celebrated for her contribution to Nigeria’s historic win securing the WAFCON trophy for a record tenth time.


Speaking during the visit, Prof. Utsev praised the Super Falcons for their exceptional performance, describing the team’s success as a result of hard work, determination, and teamwork. He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support to the team, including the conferment of national honours and generous rewards to boost their morale.


“I am particularly proud that a daughter of Benue is among the champions who made Nigeria proud. As a Ministry, we are proud to associate with her success and will continue to support and encourage young people in Benue to excel in their careers,” the Minister stated.


In her response, Miss Ordega expressed gratitude for the warm reception and honour accorded to her. She thanked Prof. Utsev whom she referred to as “a brother and uncle” the people of Benue, President Tinubu, and the entire nation for their support.


She also urged the Minister to invest more in sports development in Benue State to help discover and nurture emerging talents.


The meeting ended on a celebratory note, with photographs and applause in honour of Ordega and the victorious Super Falcons.
