 TROOPS ARREST SUSPECTED KIDNAPPER, RECOVER AK-47 RIFLE ALONG BENIN–SAPELE ROAD Troops of 4 Brigade Nigerian Army, Operation WABAIZIGAN, have arrested a suspected kidnapper and recovered an AK-47 rifle and ammunition during a targeted operation along the Benin–Sapele Road in Ikpoba-Okha LGA of Edo State. The suspect, identified as Olamide Oyeniyi, was arrested on 12 September 2026 at Obaretin Community by troops conducting operations to disrupt criminal activities and safeguard major transportation routes within the area. Items recovered from the suspect include one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and eight rounds of 7.62mm Special ammunition. Other items recovered are one Tecno mobile phone, two bags, one torchlight, one music box and assorted charms. AKON’S WIFE, TOMEKA THIAM FILES FOR DIVORCE AFTER ALMOST 30 YEARS OF MARRIAGE.(PHOTO).

 Akon’s wife, Tomeka Thiam files for divorce after almost 30 years of marriage.


Tomeka Thiam filed for divorce from Akon on Sept. 11, 2025, citing irreconcilable differences after nearly 29 years of marriage. Court docs show she seeks joint legal custody, primary physical custody of their 17-year-old daughter, and spousal support. Akon has yet to comment on the matter.

ACCORDING TO ANOTHER SOURCE:

After almost three decades together, Akon’s wife, Tomeka Thiam, has decided to call it quits.

 

According to court filings, Tomeka says she married the singer back in September 1996 but is now pulling the plug on their marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.


According TMZ, the couple share a 17-year-old child, and Tomeka is asking the court for joint legal custody while requesting physical custody. She is also seeking spousal support but at the same time asking the court to block Akon from receiving any spousal support himself.


Over the years, Akon has remained vague about how many “wives” he’s had, but Tomeka is officially making her position clear with this filing.

 

So far, Akon has not publicly reacted to the divorce news.
