 U.S Finalizes $20,000 Visa Bond Policy Affecting Nigeria and 49 Other Nations The United States government has officially formalized its visa bond policy, making it a permanent measure that could require travelers from 50 designated countries, including Nigeria, to pay a refundable bond of up to $20,000 before receiving certain visas. First introduced as a pilot scheme in 2025, the policy targets applicants seeking B1 and B2 visas, which are designated for business and tourism. AKON’S WIFE, TOMEKA THIAM FILES FOR DIVORCE AFTER ALMOST 30 YEARS OF MARRIAGE.(PHOTO).

 Akon’s wife, Tomeka Thiam files for divorce after almost 30 years of marriage.


Tomeka Thiam filed for divorce from Akon on Sept. 11, 2025, citing irreconcilable differences after nearly 29 years of marriage. Court docs show she seeks joint legal custody, primary physical custody of their 17-year-old daughter, and spousal support. Akon has yet to comment on the matter.

ACCORDING TO ANOTHER SOURCE:

After almost three decades together, Akon’s wife, Tomeka Thiam, has decided to call it quits.

 

According to court filings, Tomeka says she married the singer back in September 1996 but is now pulling the plug on their marriage, citing irreconcilable differences.


According TMZ, the couple share a 17-year-old child, and Tomeka is asking the court for joint legal custody while requesting physical custody. She is also seeking spousal support but at the same time asking the court to block Akon from receiving any spousal support himself.


Over the years, Akon has remained vague about how many “wives” he’s had, but Tomeka is officially making her position clear with this filing.

 

So far, Akon has not publicly reacted to the divorce news.
