 Russia launches massive drone and missile barrage on Ukraine, killing at least 18 civilians and striking Kyiv and multiple cities  Russia carried out a large-scale overnight assault on Ukraine, launching hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles that killed at least 18 civilians and wounded more than 100 others across multiple cities, officials said Tuesday. The strikes hit Kyiv, Dnipro and other regions, with emergency crews working through destroyed residential buildings where some victims were trapped under rubble. In Dnipro, rescuers recovered the bodies of a 3-year-old child and a mother and her 8-year-old son, while officials reported 12 deaths in the city and six in Kyiv. The bombardment stretched from night into daylight, with explosions reported across wide areas of the country.  ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RESCUES KIDNAPPED VICTIM SEVEN HOURS AFTER ABDUCTION: INTENSIFIES MANHUNT FOR THE SUSPECTS 


Following a swift and coordinated operation by Joint Operatives from the Anambra State Police Command Tactical Team in the early hours of today, 30th September 2025, a kidnapped victim was successfully rescued at Oba/Ojoto axis, seven hours after he was abducted by armed criminals at Umuru Village, Nnobi. The criminal elements had earlier demanded a ransom of ₦10,000,000 (Ten Million Naira) only.


Consequently, the Joint Command Tactical teams, on an intelligence-led operation were immediately deployed to the location for aggressive and extensive combing. Under the pressure of the advancing rescue operation, the kidnappers hastily released the victim and fled into nearby bushes. The victim was rescued unharmed, debriefed, and has since been reunited with his family.


Meanwhile, the Operatives are currently working on some clues for the possible arrest of the fleeing hoodlums 


The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc MNIPS PhD, commended the operatives for their swift action and reassured Anambra residents of the Command’s unwavering commitment to fighting crime, protecting lives, and ensuring public safety.
