 BRICS SUMMIT: NIGERIA SEEKS STRONGER GLOBAL SOUTH-SOUTH COOPERATION IN NEW DELHI, INDIA  Nigeria reaffirmes its resolve to stronger cooperation with BRICS nations and the Global South, as the bloc marks 20 years since its formation.  This is at the 18th BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting chaired by India’s External Affairs Minister, in New Delhi. Representing the Federal Government at the high-level meeting, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Umar Ahmed Dunoma, described BRICS as a vital platform for promoting cooperation, innovation, resilience, and sustainable development among emerging economies. He expressed Nigeria’s readiness to deepen collaboration, highlighting ongoing economic reforms to reduce oil dependence and boost agriculture, manufacturing, and services.  BENUE:TIV COMMUNITIES IN KADARKO LAMENT DESTRUCTION OF FARMLANDS BY HERDSMEN

Tiv residents of Kadarko Ward in Keana Local Government Area of Nasarawa State have raised alarm over the widespread destruction of their farmlands by suspected herdsmen.


A community source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, alleged that herders have unleashed their cattle on more than 100 farms in the area, devastating crops and leaving farmers traumatized.


He further disclosed that the Paramount Ruler of Kadarko had been informed about the development, but no decisive action has been taken to halt the destruction.


The source appealed to the Nasarawa State Government and relevant authorities to urgently intervene and protect the livelihoods of the affected farmers.


Communities worst hit by the invasion include Alima, Gidan Mori, Tamen, Nguchi, Akpem, and surrounding villages.
