 Prince Harry leaves African Parks board after charity admitted rangers committed human rights abuses Prince Harry has left the board of African Parks after nearly a decade with the conservation charity, a year after the organization acknowledged that some of its rangers had committed human rights abuses. A spokesperson for Harry, 41, confirmed his departure while emphasizing that his work in African conservation will continue. “The Duke is proud of his 10 years with African Parks and fully supports the ongoing strengthening of its Board,” the spokesperson said. “His commitment to conservation in Africa continues, and he remains a supporter of African Parks’ mission.” Harry first partnered with African Parks in 2016 and became president of the organization the following year.  Federal Government Takes Steps To Eliminate Lead Poisoning In Nigeria 


The Federal Government, through the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare have inaugurated a National Interagency Working Group to address the growing threat of lead poisoning in the country 


To combat the crisis, the Ministry has provided laboratory equipment in collaboration with Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) to enhanced active surveillance, and conduct soil remediation and community education. This was at a workshop in Abuja to finalize and validate the Five-Year National Strategic Plan on Lead Poisoning Elimination where officials underscored the urgency of government response 


Nigeria had witnessed outbreaks of lead poisoning in Zamfara State in 2010, where over 400 children died and several others disabled and in Niger State in 2015. More recently, in 2024, fresh cases were reported in Zamfara and Sokoto States.
