 Nicole Kidman recalls the heartbreaking moment she found out her mom died Nicole Kidman has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she learned of her mother Janelle’s death just as she was about to accept a best actress award at the Venice International Film Festival.  The Babygirl star recalled being backstage when she received the news, saying she returned to her room “completely devastated” and unsure how she would move forward without her mother, who had been such a central part of her life. She described the “harrowing” attempt to leave Venice in the middle of the night to return to Australia, only to turn back, overwhelmed and alone.  Director Halina Reijn later read a statement on Kidman’s behalf, dedicating the award to Janelle and acknowledging the collision of art and life in that painful moment.  Guinea to hold presidential election on December 28, 2025


Guinea's presidential election will be held on December 28, the presidency announced in a decree read out on state television on Saturday, AFP reported.


The announcement came a day after the Supreme Court confirmed the result of a referendum to approve a new constitution, paving the way for the elections.


At least 89% of Guinean voters approved a new constitution through a referendum held on September 21.


Transitional president General Mamady Doumbouya is yet to announce whether he would seek election.


When the military ousted President Alpha Conde in 2021, it initially said it would return the country to civilian rule by 2024. It, however, postponed the planned return to civilian rule.
