 CSO/MEDIA REVIEW: HEALTH MINISTER PATE SCORES FG HIGH  ON HEALTH SECTOR REFORMS The Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, says civil society organisations play a critical role in strengthening Nigeria’s health system by providing feedback, identifying gaps and helping government translate policies into programmes that improve lives. The CSO/Media-Led Mid-Year Review of Nigeria’s Health Sector Reforms and Policy Dialogue on Monday, Prof. Pate stressed the need for sustained engagement between government, civil society and other stakeholders to achieve better health outcomes. The Minister said the Federal Government, under President Bola Tinubu, recognises that rebuilding the health system after years of underinvestment will take time.  Gunmen Assassinate Catholic Priest In Enugu


Gunmen Have Killed A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Mathew Eya, In Eha-Ndiagu Community, Eha-Alumonah, Nsukka Local Government Area Of Enugu State.


Fr. Eya, Parish Priest Of St. Charles Catholic Church, Was Shot Dead On Friday Evening While Returning From Enugu.


Sources Reported That The Attackers, Riding On A Motorcycle, Intercepted His Vehicle Near An Ongoing Type C Hospital Project. They Allegedly Fired At The Tyres, Forcing The Car To Stop, Before Shooting Multiple Times At Close Range.


While Some Accounts Linked The Incident To Possible Kidnapping, Others Suggested It Was More Likely An Assassination, As The Priest Was Alone In The Vehicle And No Abduction Occurred.


The Late Cleric Was A Native Of Ugbaike In Enugu Ezike, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area.


As Of Press Time, Both The Police And The Catholic Diocese Of Nsukka Had Not Issued An Official Statement On The Killing.
