 ‘I’ll turn off the mic’ — Remi Tinubu reins in Adeleke’s singing at Ooni’s anniversary First Lady Oluremi Tinubu cautioned Ademola Adeleke, the Osun state governor, for prolonged singing during his remarks at the 10th coronation anniversary celebration of Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the Ooni of Ife. The moment, captured in a now-viral video, occurred as the governor mounted the podium on Sunday to pay tribute to the monarch and to congratulate the Remi on her newly bestowed chieftaincy title, Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua. Rather than proceed immediately with his formal message, Adeleke, popularly known as the “Dancing Governor” for his spirited public appearances, burst into a short musical chant, drawing laughter from parts of the audience. IGP COMMENDS DEPOWA PRESIDENT FOR INTRODUCING FULL SCHOLARSHIP TO CHILDREN OF FALLEN HEROES.


The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, has commended the Defence and Police Officers’ Wives Association (DEPOWA) for introducing a landmark initiative to provide full scholarships to children of fallen heroes. The IGP gave the commendation while receiving a courtesy visit from DEPOWA to the Force Headquarters, Abuja.


The President of DEPOWA, Mrs. Oghogho Musa who led other members of the association on the visit themed “Thank You to Our Troops” explained that the scholarship would commence with the commissioning of DEPOWA Future Leaders Academy scheduled for September 2026. She further explained that the scholarship would benefit children of fallen heroes and also bolster national cohesion by admitting children from surrounding communities. Mrs. Musa also appreciated the Inspector-General of Police and praised the sacrifices of police officers in combating violent crimes and contributing to international peacekeeping.


While responding, the IGP reaffirmed the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to protecting life and property, maintaining public order, and safeguarding democracy. IGP Egbetokun emphasized that the NPF remains resolute in fulfilling its constitutional mandate while drawing strength from the support of stakeholders such as DEPOWA and other affiliate associations.
