Blaming opposition for hunger is ‘delusion’, Atiku tells Tinubu Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has accused President Bola Tinubu of blaming the opposition for the country’s economic hardship. He said the President was trying to evade responsibility for his administration’s policies. Tinubu had earlier on Saturday blamed his political opponents for hunger and poverty in the country while speaking at the All Progressives Congress presidential campaign flag-off in Kaduna. “I hear my opponent talking about hunger, poverty. Who created it? They did! They created the hunger, they created the poverty. We are trying to eradicate it,” the President said. Atiku, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress, said Nigerians were entitled to demand answers from the APC-led government over rising living costs, poverty, insecurity and questions surrounding public expenditure.  IMPLEMENTATION OF 2025 BUDGET CAPITAL COMPONENT TO COMMENCE


The National assembly joint committee on appropriations has reached an agreement with the national economic team on the immediate commencement of implementation of the capital component of the 2025 budget.


At a meeting Thursday afternoon which resolved into closed door, both sides also affirmed earlier commitment during a meeting between the House of Representatives appropriation committee and the economic team that the circular issued by the federal government on the award of contract be withdrawn.


Those in attendance at the meeting are the chairmen of the Senate and House committee on appropriation, Senator Adeola Olamilekan and Representative Abubakar Bichi.


Also in attendance are the minister of finance wale edun, minister of Budget,  Atiku Bagudu, Accountant General of the Federation, Shamseldin Ogunjimi and the Director General Budget Office Tanimu Yakubu among others.


Details on discussions will be communicated after the closed session.
