INTERNAL SECURITY: IGP EGBETOKUN COMMISSIONS 59 ARMOURED VEHICLES FOR ENHANCED TACTICAL OPERATIONS

Operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force received a major boost today, 26th September 2025, as the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, commissioned fifty-nine (59) Armoured Toyota Hilux Vehicles at the Force Headquarters, Abuja. These purpose-built vehicles, designed to withstand hostile fire, endure harsh terrains, and provide speed, durability, and protection, mark a significant step in equipping tactical and special units to dominate in high-risk field operations.

In his address, the IGP emphasised that the credibility of the Nigeria Police Force will continually be earned by results delivered, noting that the commissioning comes at a critical time when insecurity is evolving in both complexity and intensity across the African continent, with Nigeria not exempt. He further stated that the newly inducted vehicles are not ceremonial displays but strategic reinforcements in a broader framework aimed at strengthening operations, enhancing intelligence gathering, and enforcing accountability across all levels of the Force.

Charging commanders and tactical operatives, IGP Egbetokun directed that the vehicles must never be left idle while citizens face danger. He stressed that every deployment must be lawful, proportionate, and decisive, warning that criminal elements must no longer find safe haven in any part of the nation. The IGP assured Nigerians that the public will, in due time, bear witness to declining crime rates and increased confidence in the Force.
