 Dutch referee Rob Dieperink dies weeks after removal from World Cup officiating list Dutch referee Rob Dieperink has died at the age of 38, weeks after FIFA removed him from its list of officials for the World Cup. The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) confirmed his death in a statement, saying it was “shocked and deeply saddened” by the news. His cause of death has not been disclosed. Dieperink was arrested in April by the Metropolitan Police in the United Kingdom following a report of an alleged sexual assault involving a teenage boy in London. A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said officers responded on April 9 to a report of sexual assault at an address in Croydon and arrested a man in his 30s on suspicion of the offence. Police later said that after reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage and digital devices, the investigation had concluded that “the evidential threshold had not been met” and no further action would be taken.  LAGOS POLICE NAB SECURITY GUARD FOR CHILD ABDUCTION


The Lagos State Police Command has successfully apprehended one Amos Kini, male, a security guard, in connection with the abduction of a 2-year-old child in the Elemoro area of Lagos.


The incident occurred on 1/8 21st September, 2025, at about 2350hrs, when the mother of the child reported at Elemoro Division that her security guard had absconded with her son and mobile phone to an unknown location without her consent. The suspect later used the stolen phone to contact the father 2/8 of the child, demanding a ransom of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000.00) for his release.


Upon receipt of the report, operatives from Elemoro Division immediately initiated a swift response. The scene was promptly visited and documented, one Aruna Dauda (male), who stood as 3/8 guarantor for the suspect before his employment, was taken in for questioning.


As efforts to locate the suspect intensified, the police sustained operational pressure through intelligence gathering and coordinated surveillance. This ultimately forced the suspect to 4/8 release the child. However, the operatives continued their manhunt, determined to bring the perpetrator to justice.


On 23rd September, 2025, at about 1400hrs, operatives of the Tactical Squad (Hyena), acting on credible intelligence, successfully tracked and arrested 5/8 Amos Kini at his hideout within the Elemoro area. The suspect has since confessed to the crime and remains in police custody. He will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.


The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, strongly condemned 6/8 the abduction of the innocent child, reaffirming the Command’s unwavering commitment to combating all forms of violent and capital crimes in the state.
