 PRESS RELEASE OPERATION HADIN KAI FOILS MASS ABDUCTION ATTEMPT AT FGGC MONGUNO Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), in collaboration with personnel of the Nigeria Police Mobile Force (MOPOL), successfully foiled an attempted mass abduction by ISWAP terrorists at the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC), Monguno, at about 0130 hours (1:30 a.m.) on 19 July 2026. The FGGC facility is currently being utilized by the Borno State Government as temporary hostel accommodation for students of the Federal Polytechnic, Monguno. The terrorists reportedly gained access to the facility with the assistance of suspected collaborators in an attempt to abduct students. Alert security personnel immediately engaged the terrorists with coordinated and overwhelming firepower, effectively stalling their advance with Sector 3 Quick Reaction Force (QRF) immediately reinforcing the school.  Limpopo man arrested after allegedly pointing firearm at shop employee


A 44-year-old man has been arrested in Westenburg, Polokwane, after he allegedly pointed a firearm at a shop teller in Ladanna.


Police said the incident occurred on Thursday, September 18, when the suspect, who was a customer, threatened to shoot the employee during an argument. Officers responded quickly and found the man still at the shop.


“During the interview, the suspect admitted to pointing the teller with a firearm, which was inside his vehicle,” police spokesperson said.


Further investigations led officers to the suspect’s workshop, where additional firearms were found. A search of his farm also uncovered four rifles and ammunition.


The suspect claimed the weapons belonged to a client who had brought a vehicle for service at his workshop.


He was arrested on charges of pointing a firearm and possession of suspected unlicensed firearms and ammunition.


The man is expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court on Monday, September 22.
