 EFCC Arraigns Austrian For Undeclared $800,585, €651,505 At Lagos Airport The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, Okotie Eboh, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, January 9, 2026, arraigned one  Kavlak Onal, an Austrian national arrested by the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, for allegedly failing to declare the sums of $800,575 and €651,505 in his possession. He was arraigned before Justice Yelim Bogoro of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi , Lagos.  Onal who was scheduled to travel on Emirates Airline to Dubai, was on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 intercepted  during a routine check at the AML/ CFT Currency Declaration Desk at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

 Nigeria reaffirms ties with Qatar on its 54th Independence Day


Nigeria congratulates the State of Qatar on its 54th anniversary of independence. 


Nigeria’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Yusuf Tuggar, conveyed warm felicitations, reaffirming Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties in trade, energy, security & education.


Yusuf Tuggar, in a message to Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, commends the resilience, unity, and progress of the Qatari people. 


He also recognises the two nations’ collaboration within the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), and other global platforms aimed at promoting peace, development, and security.


Nigeria, therefore, reaffirms its readiness to deepen bilateral ties and explore new areas of partnership for mutual benefit, while wishing Qatar continued peace, prosperity, and national advancement.
