Yemen fighting pushes nearly 3,000 to Djibouti in less than a week: UN    Nearly 3,000 people have fled Yemen for Djibouti in less than a week as escalating violence drives growing displacement within the country and across its borders, the UN refugee agency said Friday. “Refugees continue to arrive by boat through Obock, Khor Angar, Moulhoule and Godoria after difficult journeys in small vessels,” UNHCR representative in Djibouti Sandrine Desamours told reporters in Geneva, Anadolu Agency reported. More than half of those crossing the Bab el-Mandeb Strait are women and children, while some families have been displaced for a second time after previously fleeing Yemen during the 2015 crisis and later returning. UNHCR is preparing for at least 10,000 new arrivals but warned that capacity is rapidly diminishing.  Onitsha South Mayor Advises Couples on Family Planning Amidst Gov. Soludo’s Free Social Programs


The Mayor of Onitsha South Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Emeka Orji, has cautioned couples to plan their families effectively, citing the numerous free social programs initiated by Governor Charles Soludo.


Speaking at the Local Government Secretariat during the presentation of free healthcare insurance for 1,000 citizens, Orji noted that the governor’s initiatives have made life easier for the residents of Anambra State.


“The free programs include antenatal care, delivery, education from basic to secondary school level, and soon, bursary payments for higher institution students. Additionally, the governor’s “One Youth, Two Skills” program which provides skills training and startup grants.


Orji emphasized that parents should plan their families, considering the benefits provided by the governor, to ensure they can adequately care for their children.


He reiterated that Anambra State is among the best in Nigeria, that Governor Soludo is doing wonders without borrowing, He also pointed out that the general hospital of it’s kind, fire service station have finally erected in the area.


Health officials in Onitsha South Local Government Area also praised Governor Soludo’s Anambra State Health Insurance Agency (ASHIA) initiative, which provides subsidized healthcare to residents.
