  Viola Davis Rejects Target’s Apology Over “Blackface” Halloween Costume Viola Davis has rejected Target’s apology after the retailer pulled a controversial kids’ Halloween costume that critics said evoked racist minstrel and blackface imagery. Target removed the $25 "Kids' Glows Under Blacklight Circus Clown" costume from its Hyde and EEK! Boutique line after backlash over the design’s exaggerated features, which many linked to Jim Crow-era minstrel and blackface tropes. The retailer took down the item and issued an apology, saying they “got this wrong” and acknowledging the deep hurt caused to Black customers and employees. Davis, however, turned down the apology.  Pretoria Police Constable Holds Family Hostage in Mamelodi, Ends in Tragedy


Disturbing news has emerged from Pretoria after a 32-year-old police constable held his family hostage in Mamelodi on Monday.


Reports indicate that the constable kept his family under siege from the morning, not allowing them to move or do anything. Police, including the Special Task Force, were called to the scene.


According to information received, the constable had discovered that his wife was allegedly cheating with his brother, a matter the entire family reportedly knew about except him.


During the standoff, he allegedly attempted to shoot his grandmother, but his 18-year-old nephew intervened and was fatally shot. Shortly after the incident, the constable turned the gun on himself and took his own life.


Police investigations into the tragic incident are continuing.
