Limpopo police have confirmed a double murder at the Namakgale Shopping Complex in Mopani District, where a woman and her husband were killed, and a store manager was injured.
According to police, the 45-year-old man attacked his 40-year-old wife inside a retail wholesaler on Sunday afternoon. She tried to hide in the manager’s office, but he forced his way in and shot the manager before dragging his wife outside. He then stabbed her multiple times and fatally shot her before turning the gun on himself.
The man died at the scene. Police recovered an unlicensed firearm with its serial number filed off, along with cartridges, projectiles, and a knife. The injured manager was taken to hospital for treatment.
Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe condemned the incident, describing it as a tragic reminder of domestic violence.
Police say investigations are ongoing, and the names of the deceased will be released once their families have been informed.
