 EFCC Arraigns Austrian For Undeclared $800,585, €651,505 At Lagos Airport The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Lagos Zonal Directorate 2, Okotie Eboh, Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday, January 9, 2026, arraigned one  Kavlak Onal, an Austrian national arrested by the Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, for allegedly failing to declare the sums of $800,575 and €651,505 in his possession. He was arraigned before Justice Yelim Bogoro of the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi , Lagos.  Onal who was scheduled to travel on Emirates Airline to Dubai, was on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 intercepted  during a routine check at the AML/ CFT Currency Declaration Desk at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

 SCUML  Seals Two Companies in Sokoto


The Special Control Unit Against Money Laundering, SCUML,  on Monday, September, 29 2025 sealed the premises of two Designated Non-Financial Businesses and Professions, DNFIBPs, Iman Multi Structures Ltd and Daraja Motors  for non -compliance with the provisions of the Money Laundering


(Prevention and Prohibition) Act 2022 and EFCC AML/CFT/CPF regulations 2024.


Both DNFBPs were initially sanctioned and fined on June 18, 2025 and August 13, 2025 respectively  for non-compliance with regulations but failed to make payment to the government.   


Investigations by Scuml Zonal Co'ordinator,   Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE Ahmadu Bello showed that the ultimatum to pay the fine offered the two organisations expired over a month ago.


 The premises will remain sealed until compliance with extant regulations is made.
