 ANAMBRA POLICE COMMAND RECEIVES AND AUGMENTS IGP’S MONITORING UNIT OPERATIVES ON ENFORCEMENT OF POLICE PERSONNEL WITHDRAWAL FROM VIP ESCORT DUTIES IN THE STATE The Anambra State Police Command today 8th December 2025 formally received operatives of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP)’s Monitoring Unit deployed to the state to ensure full implementation of the IGP’s directive on the withdrawal of police personnel from VIP escort and guard duties. The Commissioner of Police CP Ikioye Orutugu fwc mnips PhD reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to supporting the IGP’s reform efforts targeted at enhancing professionalism, discipline, and optimal deployment of police manpower nationwide. The CP noted that the withdrawal of these officers will help to strengthen public policing, improve response capacity, and ensure that more personnel are available for core policing duties across the state. THRES SIBLINGS DIE IN TEMBISA SHACK FIRE. (PHOTO).

 The Freedom Square community in Tembisa is in mourning after a shack fire claimed the lives of three siblings in the early hours of Saturday morning.


The victims, Lebo (15), Lethabo (13), and Kgothatso (7), were trapped inside their shack when the blaze started. Their mother had allegedly locked the children inside while she went to visit her boyfriend at a nearby hostel. She has since been arrested and is facing charges of negligence.


Residents described the incident as heartbreaking and gathered outside the burnt shack to comfort the family and grieve the loss. Many say the tragedy highlights the harsh conditions faced by families in informal settlements, where fires remain a constant danger.
