 VANDAL CRUSHED TO DEATH UNDER COLLAPSED TRANSMISSION TOWER IN DELTA STATE A suspected vandal has been crushed to death under a collapsed vandalised  transmission tower along the 330kV Ughelli-Benin transmission line in Delta State. The incident was discovered during a line patrol carried out by the Delta Sub-Region, Lines Maintenance Department of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), following the tripping of the line on earth fault on the Ughelli - Benin 330kV Transmission line. A statement by the TCN indicates that the patrol team traced the fault to Tower 101, which had collapsed. The body of the suspected vandal was found crushed between the tower members. Tower 101 on the adjacent Ughelli - Sapele 330kV  transmission line had also been vandalized.

 Thugs attack former AGF, Abubakar Malami’s convoy in Kebbi


Former Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, escaped being injured yesterday, September 1, after his convoy was attacked by suspected political thugs in Birnin Kebbi.


Malami was just returning after paying a condolence visit to a family in the state capital when the assailants attacked his convoy, destroying 10 vehicles in the convoy and leaving several of his supporters injured during the attack.


Malami who is a leader in the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kebbi, described the attack as “politically motivated”.


““I was in Birnin Kebbi solely to pay condolences to families who lost their loved ones. I was away, not for political campaign. It’s painful and unfortunate. Some thugs emerged from the APC state headquarters, armed with weapons and stones, and attacked our convoy, destroying vehicles and injuring our supporters.”


Malami said there would be “no retreat, no surrender” in politics in Kebbi.


Meanwhile, the APC party in the state has denied any involvement in the attack.
