 A Limpopo man who stabbed his girlfriend to death in front of his own mother will spend the next 20 years in prison. The Polokwane High Court sentenced 48 year old Nathaniel Molatelo Mokgehle from Sekonye Village in the Botlokwa policing area for the murder of his girlfriend, 41 year old Mokgadi Julia Mohlaela. The court heard he chased her out of the house and continued stabbing her until she collapsed and died. Mokgehle also received six months for malicious damage to property. The sentence will run at the same time as the 20 year murder sentence. Evidence presented in court showed the victim had previously opened a malicious damage to property case against him. He was still attending court for that case when the murder happened. The attack happened on 08 June 2025 around 16:00 at his mother’s home in Sekonye Village.  Tragedy in Bauchi: Widow Found Dead on Her Farm


A tragic incident has thrown the Kafin Tafawa community on the outskirts of Bauchi metropolis into mourning, following the gruesome murder of a widow, Salomi Benjamin.


Her lifeless body was discovered on her farm, about two kilometers from her residence.


According to her third son, Simeon, Mama Salomi left home for her farm around 8 a.m. but never returned.


Concerned about her whereabout, the family began a search, only to find her dead in the evening, lying lifeless in her farm.


"This time, it is not about a clash between farmers and herders," the source clarified.


Alex Markus, a neighbor to the deceased, described the killing as both tragic and senseless. He praised the prompt response of the Yelwa Divisional Police Officer but urged authorities to intensify efforts in uncovering those behind the heinous act.


At the time of filing this report, the Bauchi State Police Command had not officially commented on the incident, despite efforts to reach them.
