Kaduna businessman drags ex fiancee’s father to court, demands dowry refund A businessman, Nasiru Dayyabu, on Wednesday, dragged the father of his ex-fiance, Mallam Sani Direba, to Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna over N260,000 dowry. The complainant had joined Direba in the suit against two brothers demanding a refund of N250, 000 dowry and N10,000 introduction money he paid to marry his daughter. Represented by his counsel, Mr Sani Sunusi, the complainant told the court that he sent his people from Karaye, Kano State to Kaduna in 2025, to seek for the defendant’s daughter’s hand in marriage. “We paid the dowry and the introduction money (kudin gausuwa) and were waiting for them to set a date for the wedding,” he said. “Unfortunately, the lady’s father called to inform us that they have cancelled the marriage.” The counsel said the complainant had asked for the refund of his money since Sept. 2025 but all the efforts he made proved abortive.  VP SHETTIMA LEADS NIGERIA'S DELEGATION TO 80TH UNGA IN NEW YORK 


Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead Nigeria’s delegation to the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly holding in New York, United States of America, between Monday, September 22 and Sunday 28, 2025.


In a Statement by the Senior Special Assistant to The President on Media and Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha said Shettima who is scheduled to join other leaders at the global event to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the United Nations will also join other dignitaries at the high-level general debates from Tuesday, September 23rd to Sunday 28th.


VP Shettima will also deliver Nigeria’s national statement on behalf of President Tinubu on Wednesday, September 24 between 3:00pm and  9:00pm, New York time.


He will attend a special event on Climate for Heads of State and Government to be hosted by the UN Secretary-General on Wednesday, September 24, from 2:00pm to 6:00pm, where Nigeria is expected to announce its new Nationally Determined Contributions under the Paris Agreement.


Vice President Shettima is also slated to attend the high-level roundtable of the Global Champions on Adequate and Affordable Housing to be hosted by the President of Kenya on September 24th and attend to other bilateral meetings and events. 


After the UNGA, the Vice President will leave for Frankfurt, Germany, where he is slated to meet with officials of the Deutche Bank before returning to Nigeria.
