 Russian court sentences 19 over 2024 Moscow concert hall attack    A Moscow court on Thursday convicted 19 people for their roles in the 2024 shooting at a concert hall that left 149 dead and more than 600 injured, one of the deadliest attacks in the city in years. The March 22, 2024, attack at Crocus City Hall was claimed by a faction of the Islamic State group. Authorities said four gunmen, all citizens of Tajikistan, opened fire on concertgoers waiting for a rock band performance and then set the building on fire. All 19 defendants received lengthy prison terms: 15 were sentenced to life, one to 22½ years, and three to 19 years and 11 months. Those serving life sentences will spend part of their term in prison and the remainder in a special regime penal colony. Fines ranging from 500,000 rubles (around $6,300) to 2.7 million rubles ($34,000) were also imposed.  Youth Assembly Of Nigeria Kaduna Chapter Holds Inauguration, Northwest Peace And Security Summit


The Kaduna State Chapter of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) on Saturday, September 13, 2025, held its inauguration ceremony and the Northwest Peace and Security Summit at Arewa House, Kaduna. 


The event also featured the investiture of Patrons and Advisers.


In his address, the newly elected Speaker, Rt. Hon. Hassan John, said: “We are not the leaders of tomorrow; we are the leaders of now.” He also unveiled the Kaduna State Youth Mission Agenda 2027, a strategic plan that focuses on youth inclusion in governance, skills and economic empowerment, gender and disability inclusion, and peacebuilding and civic engagement.


Hassan noted that young people make up more than two-thirds of Kaduna’s population and warned that failure to invest in them could result in a “demographic disaster.”


The summit, themed “Strengthening Civil-Military Cooperation for Peace,” emphasized the need for greater trust and collaboration between youth and security agencies.


YAN Kaduna announced partnerships with key institutions including the EFCC, DSS, Nigeria Police, Nigeria Immigration Service, Franco-British International University, Civil Impact for Sustainability Development Foundation, Eagle’s Brain, Kaduna State Media Corporation, and NTA Kaduna. 


The collaborations will focus on anti-corruption education, digital training, and youth mentorship.


The Speaker praised Governor Uba Sani for reviving the Ministry of Youth Development and called on government, the private sector, and development partners to give priority to youth engagement.


“Let us turn Kaduna into a hub of youth leadership in the North-West. Now. Not later,” he told participants.


The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Governor Uba Sani, represented by the Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Barr. Sule Shuabu (SAN); the Commissioner for Youth Development, Hon. Daniel Amos; and Hon. Bama Maidawa Bako, Senior Legislative Aide to the Speaker of the House of Representatives, representing Hon. Daniel Amos, Member for Jema’a/Sanga Federal Constituency.


Others in attendance included government officials, private sector leaders, security chiefs, traditional rulers, leaders of civil society organizations, and regional and national executives of YAN.
